This past Wednesday I attended Ryerson's Mass Exodus. For those who are not famililar with Mass Exodus, this is the yearly showcase put on by both the 4th year Fashion Design students, the 3rd year Fashion Communication students and Theatre students at Ryerson University.
Last time I went was in 2002 when my amazingly talented friends wow'd the world with their art. My friend/roomate Haley Gibson went on to establish her own clothing line Birds of North America that is lighting up the Canadian Fashion world.
I had hoped to link you to some pictures/websites to some of these fabulous local designers, however their links don't seem to be working. Instead, here are a couple of contacts for you of designers that impressed me with their sense of yummy-ness.
If you are in seach for a custom eco-friendly gown, contact Kimberley Barr. Read about her bridal line here.
For super fun-sexy cocktail wear, contact Lauren Schwenker. Read more about her sassy-line here.
When looking for something unique for your event, don't limit yourself to well-known designers. Tap into your local design students who will not only create something spectacular for you, but I image you can get it for a fabulous price. And who knows!! Maybe you will have a custom design dress from the future Vera Wang! Wouldn't that be amazing :)
